Cranbrook Here We Come.

Since this blog is for our family and friends to be able to stay abreast of our life in Cranbrook, I thought it was only fitting for the first post to be about our first glimpse of Cranbrook. During Tim's week home from work we took the weekend to drive up to this town we have been so curious to see. It was a beautiful drive and we cherished every minute of the nine hour drive together. We listened to music, I read aloud, we stopped for treats and talked about our favourite topic....Jaeger. Things were going great until we called the property manager we had previously been in contact with, to arrange a time to meet once we arrived, only to find out he had gone on vacation leaving no one to help his clients. Nice. Lucky for us we had set up two places to see on our own so we weren't completely destitute. We looked at each other and hoped our perfect home would be one of the two. The following morning, after staying the night with Tim's Auntie Brenda and Uncle Carl (who live in Cranbrook, YAY!), we started out on our house hunt.
Our first appointment was less then stellar, a 1970's wood panelling nightmare, above a computer store and its parking lot. Eek. I told myself I can clean anything and as long as we are together everything will be fine. Fortunately for us we had the hope of the unseen second place to keep our spirits lifted. As we drove up to place number two we were feeling good just looking at the outside. Turns out this bright and beautiful basement suite had everything on our wish list and more! Renovated four months ago, our new AWESOME landlord had dressed it up with new drywall, new baseboards, crown moulding, stainless steel appliances, stacker washer/dryer, soaker tub, rock fireplace, cork flooring...the list goes on and ON! My kitchen window even looks out over our private backyard so I can watch Jaeger play outside. We took it on the spot and felt so relieved and totally blessed.
Since we missed our little man terribly and had found what we were looking we decided to head home right away. So after 18 hours in Cranbrook we were on the road back to our baby. Very successful excursion indeed. Here is a preview of our new home. I will post more photos once we are in, settled and organized. Thanks for reading!
